Justyna Machnicka (Poland)
Graphic designer, freelancer, university lecturer.
Works on various projects related to graphic design, ranging from logos to publishing and web pages. Her creative work focuses mainly on posters. In designing self-edition posters, she draws inspiration from events in her private life and major current issues. Her creativity extends to designing posters promoting cultural events. She is an active participant in Polish and international poster exhibitions. Founder and organizer of the "Overview of Self-Edition Poster" project, Roller Poster. She also wrote a column for Ładne strony in Przekrój, a quarterly magazine.
She has been awarded five scholarships by the Mayor of Szczecin in the years 1996, 1997, 2002, 2003, and 2004. In the 2004/2005 academic year, she received an award from the Marshal of West Pomerania for “The Best Diploma” in the field of Graphic Design. Her diploma work was selected for The Best Design Diplomas exhibition at the Silesian Castle of Art and Enterprise, part of a national competition for Polish art graduates in the field of design (2006). She won first prize in the logo jubilee competition for the city of Piła (2010) and the funded prize at the 26th Polish Poster Biennale in Katowice (2019). Additionally, she received an honorable mention in the "West Pomeranian Museum Event of the Year" competition in the category of educational and popularization activities for the project "Educational Toolkit for the Museum of Technology and Transport in Szczecin" (2020).
She is an Associate Professor at the Szczecin Academy of Art, where she runs the Publishing and Digital Design Studio in the Faculty of Graphic Arts.
